Townsmen and Me are connected to eternity
Townsmen originated from the idea to create a game like The Settlers or Anno for mobile devices. The series has been available worldwide for over 20 years, initially only on Java phones. My involvement with Townsmen began in 2012 with the seventh installment of the series.
The goal was to establish the well-known Java game series Townsmen on smartphones.
With a core team of six people—1 to 2 game designers, 2 to 3 programmers, and 2 artists—we succeeded in increasing Townsmen’s popularity even further. It remains HandyGames’ most beloved game.
Over more than 10 years, Townsmen evolved from a mobile game into a PC and console title through numerous updates and expansions.
New live patches and updates were released every few months, adding scenarios and quests, new buildings, and maps. Townsmen still enjoys a huge fanbase worldwide.
